Green light given to construction on the Amphion office building in 'De Resident'

The Hague, 22 June 1999 – The official go-ahead will be given today for constructing the Amphion office building in The Hague. This will be done this afternoon when the future user of the property, the Rijks Opleidings Instituut (ROI), and MAB sign the lease. Ms K. Laglas, general director of MAB B.V., and Mr De Jager of the ROI will take care of the formalities. Amphion will be the last office building to go into construction in De Resident, a city centre project in The Hague being developed by MAB/Bouwfonds Financiering Vastgoed.

The building site for Amphion, a 4-story office building with 1300 m2 of floor space, is at the corner of Zwarte Weg and Muzenstraat. Completion is planned for the beginning of 2001 at which time the sole tenant, the Rijks Opleidings Instituut, will start using the building as a training centre. The Dutch architect for Amphion, Bert Dirrix, has also designed 40 spacious residential units that will be built next to Amphion.

De Resident is a multifunctional project and covers an area bounded by Fluwelen Burgwal, Herengracht and Turfmarkt. Actually a city within a city, it serves as a transition between the low-rise buildings typical of the old inner city, and the large-scaled offices in the vicinity of The Hague’s Central Station.

MAB, an independent integrated property company operating in the Netherlands, Germany, France, England and Belgium, is engaged in the entrepreneurial development, management and purchase of property. Ever since its founding in 1970, MAB has specialised in the development of major spatial planning projects in predominantly complex inner-city situations.
