MAB sinks the final pile for units in the Resident

The Hague, Tuesday 12 September 2000 – Today at 3.30 p.m., the final pile will be sunk for the 62 residential units in de Resident. This concerns the Novelle (8 units), Mythos (18 units), Aubade (18 units) and Parabel (18 units) buildings situated in the new ‘Calliopestraat’.

De Resident houses a total of 315 flats, 106 of which have been sold to AZL, and 209 owner-occupied units, 176 of which have already been sold. The first properties were completed at the beginning of June. Construction on the last phase of 62 units has commenced, most of which have been sold or placed under option. Their sale is being handled by Jacobus Recourt and Frisia en Voorhout Makelaardij. Completion is planned for mid 2002.

Novelle and Mythos
Novelle and Mythos are located near the horseshoe-shaped Muzenplein with its typical Italian atmosphere. Judging by their architecture and situation, Novelle and Mythos are perfectly matched. This has partly to do with the charming bow windows on their corners and the shops on the ground floor. The architect is Gunnar Daan who hails from Oosternijkerk.

Aubade and Parabel
Aubade and Parabel consist of five floors and a total of 18 residential units each.
The buildings have several similarities in their use of materials: covered balconies, the rhythm of the staggered façades, the handsome warm orange and red tints of their brickwork and the anthracite-coloured plinths. The ground floor connects to the courtyard. The architect is Thon Karelse.

De Resident
The multifunctional ‘de Resident’ project covers the area between Fluwelen Burgwal, Herengracht and Turfmarkt. De Resident, a city within a city, forms a bridge between the low-rise buildings of the old city centre and the large-scale office buildings within the vicinity of The Hague’s Central Station. ‘De Resident’ is a development of MAB and Bouwfonds Financiering Vastgoed.
In mid-2002, ‘de Resident’ will consist of 115,000 m² of offices, 315 residential units, 4,500 m² of shops and 800 covered parking spaces divided between three car parks (the Zurich car park is not open to the public).

MAB
MAB is an independent, integrated property company with offices in the Netherlands, Germany, France, the UK and Belgium. The company is engaged at its own account and risk in the development, management and purchase/sale of property. Since its foundation in 1970, MAB has specialised in the development of major spatial planning processes in predominantly complicated inner city situations.

Bouwfonds Financiering Vastgoed
Bouwfonds Financiering Vastgoed B.V., which has been serving as ‘de Resident’s’ project financier, is an operating company of Bouwfonds Hoevelaken. This enterprise is active in three property market sectors: development, financing and management.
