Developer of Resident and Groenmarkt and surroundings The Hague New Centre Award for MAB B.V. The Hague, 26 October 2000 – Today MAB, the property developer based in The Hague, receives the fourth The Hague New Centre Award. This prize is an initiative of The Hague New Centre Trust, an association of thirty firms that are actively involved in the centre of The Hague as developers, builders, investors or estate agents. MAB is receiving the prize for the development in The Hague of "top quality vanguard projects where companies and individuals like to locate". The many years that MAB has been operating in The Hague played a part in the decision. Lead Councillor Noordanus awarded the prize during the second 'Gala de La Haye' to Mr A.Th. Meijer, Chairman of the Board of MAB Groep B.V. MAB's present best known involvement in The Hague New Centre is De Resident, the new district under construction between City Hall and Zwarteweg. Several new office buildings are already in use, for example the new premises for the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and the Zurich Tower. The first homes and shops have also been occupied. MAB is moreover developing shops, homes and offices around Groenmarkt. This is the site where the 'Snoeptrommel' (Candy Jar) by British architect John Outram was completed last year and the renovation of the Berlage Building was completed this year. More than five billion guilders have already been invested in the New Centre by the private and public sectors. Previous New Centre awards were awarded to The Hague City Council, Zurich and ING for their specific roles in the development of this part of the centre of The Hague. October 26, 2000 |
