MAB and Bouwfonds Property Finance win with ‘De Resident’ the prestigious
FIABCI AWARD

The Hague, 28th May 2003 – During the international FIABCI Congress the MAB and Bouwfonds Property Finance project ‘de Resident’ in The Hague, The Netherlands won the prestigious FIABCI Prix d’Excellence in the category Special Projects.
The Resident is a development of MAB and Bouwfonds Property Finance.

FIABCI Prix d’Excellence (FIABCI Award) - The best of world real estate The FIABCI Prix d’Excellence is awarded once a year during the FIABCI Congress. The projects may be entered in 7 categories: - leisure, - offices/industrial, - public sector, - residential, - retail and – specialized projects.

The winners in the other categories are:
- Leisure: The Fullerton Square Project (Singapore), - Office/Industrial: The Telenor Centre (Norway), - Residential: The Trump World Tower (New York), - Public: Szabo Ervin Library (Budapest) and Retail: Mammut Center (Budapest).

The FIABCI Prix d'Excellence recognizes the project that best embodies excellence in all the real estate disciplines involved in its creation. It illustrates concretely the FIABCI ideal of 'providing society with the optimal solution to its property needs' and even mature projects are eligible.

In the last few years the following projects won the Prix d’Excellence: Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao (leisure), WestEnd City Center, Budapest (retail) and Bluewater, Kent (retail).

Awarded by an international panel comprising top real estate professionals and experts, the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence rewards overall merit and not just aesthetics, functionality or size.

‘De Resident’
The multifunctional ‘de Resident’ project covers the area between Fluwelen Burgwal, Herengracht and Turfmarkt. De Resident, a city within a city, forms a bridge between the low-rise buildings of the old city centre and the large-scale office buildings within the vicinity of The Hague’s Central Station.
‘ De Resident’ provides The Hague with a high quality, vibrant inner-city environment that will appeal to everyone’s imagination. It is an area where living, working and shopping will come together in a compact environment of striking yet varied buildings, atmospheric streets and attractive squares.
Since its realisation in 2002, ‘de Resident’ consists of 115,000 m² of offices, 315 residential units, 4,500 m² retail and 800 covered parking spaces divided between three car parks.
10 famous (inter)national architects have worked on ‘De Resident’: Rob Krier, Sjoerd Soeters, Michael Graves, Cesar Pelli, Adolfo Natalini, Thon Karelse, Gunnar Daan, Bert Dirrix, Peter Drijver en Richard Koek.
