The Resident and its surroundings
The district between Fluwelen Burgwal, Herengracht and Turfmarkt forms the heart of The New Hague Centre development. Landmarks in this newly developed neighbourhood are the Town Hall, Ministry of VROM, Central Station, Spuitheater and Lucent Danstheater.

  Stadhuis (Town Hall)
Richard Meier's design for the Town Hall in The Hague combined with the central public library was the winning design of a closed competition. The solution for the urban developmental inclusion of the complex in the city centre was the deciding factor in the choice of Meier's design. As the urban routes and the building lines are continued in the building, a logical division of functions was created. Passageways and orientation axes meet in the centrally situated atrium, the junction of an architectonic combination of lines in different directions.

The Resident is one of the many ambitious projects that form part of the 'New Centre for The Hague', the Netherlands.
